- What is BIMI?
- BIMI publishes a link to your brand logo (SVG Tiny 1.2, square) at default._bimi.<domain>. Supporting mail clients — Gmail, Apple Mail, Yahoo Mail — display the logo next to authenticated messages from your domain.
- What are the prerequisites?
- A DMARC policy of p=quarantine or p=reject with pct=100, a properly formatted SVG Tiny 1.2 logo hosted over HTTPS, and — for Gmail and Apple Mail — a Verified Mark Certificate (VMC) or Common Mark Certificate (CMC).
- Do I need a VMC?
- For Gmail and Apple Mail, yes — the a= tag must point to a valid VMC or CMC PEM file. Some other clients render the logo without a certificate but many will not.
- Why doesn't my logo show even though the record is correct?
- The most common causes: DMARC isn't p=quarantine/reject with pct=100, the SVG isn't strict SVG Tiny 1.2, the SVG isn't served over HTTPS, or the VMC isn't valid for this domain.
